Assefa Desalew

Bio:

Dr. Assefa Desalew is an Assistant Professor of Maternal and Child Health at the College of Health and Medical Sciences, Haramaya University, Ethiopia, and a PhD Fellow at Leiden University Medical Center, Leiden University, the Netherlands. His doctoral research focuses on RhD alloimmunization and Hemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn (HDFN) in Africa, with a particular emphasis on Ethiopia. He is committed to advancing maternal and child health through the prevention of maternal RhD alloimmunization, improved access to anti-D immunoglobulins, and antibody screening.

In addition to his academic role, Dr. Desalew serves as Head of Department and coordinates the African Initiative for Rh Disease Eradication. With a strong background in pediatric and child health nursing, he has been actively engaged in teaching, research, and program development to improve child health outcomes. He holds a Master’s degree from Addis Ababa University and has been a dedicated member of the Ethiopian Pediatric Society since 2020.

Dr. Salahaldeen Deeb

Dr. Salahaldeen Deeb is a Medical Doctor and recent graduate of Al-Quds University. He is passionate about clinical research, public health, and medical education. Beginning his journey in research early during medical school, he has actively contributed to multi-center studies and co-authored case reports in collaboration with students from various countries.

He aims to bridge clinical practice with evidence-based research to create meaningful impact, particularly in improving healthcare outcomes for vulnerable communities.
